KPOD News Talk Sports Radio is an AM Radio broadcaster located in Crescent City, California that broadcasts its signal on 1240 KHz AM. The station is limited to transmitting at a maximum power of 1,000 Watts, which largely limits its coverage area to Crescent City and the north-western most portion of California as well as portions of the southern Oregon coast. Crescent City is currently one of the smallest radio markets in the United States. KPOD’s format consists of sports, including Oakland A’s Major League Baseball games, talk radio shows and sports talk programming. The Oakland A’s are the closest Major League Baseball team to Crescent City, despite the fact that Oakland lies almost 500 miles to the south.
KPOD is an affiliate of the FOX Sports Radio Network, which provides the bulk of the station’s programming at night. During the day the station airs popular talk radio shows such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck.
Bi-Coastal Media, which currently owns the station, also operates an FM radio station with the same call letters on 97.9 MHz FM. Despite its station name being exactly the same, KPOD-FM shares no programming in common with its AM radio counterpart. The FM version of KPOD currently airs 24/7 country music.
KPOD offers a number of ways to receive a live stream of their programming. The station can be found on TuneIn.Com (for web browsers and smartphones) and has a pop-up (HTML) player available on their homepage. A Shoutcast .pls stream is also available, which makes the station accessible with most brands of internet radio players and computer software.
